Direct Press is a unique technology, whereby images are directly created on an imaging drum electronically. No light is needed. The toner is transferred to a special belt and consequently fused at low temperature on the paper. The technology has several advantages over traditional electrography. It has no waste toner, produces no ozone, and has fewer parts making it intrinsically more reliable. But above all, it produces near perfect images, on many kind of media including textured stock.
DirectPress technology demands lower fusing temperatures and is an enabler for the unique HeatXchange technology. In a special unit, heat is transferred from freshly printed hot prints to sheets that still need to be printed. Dependent on the paper used, up to 30% of the heat is re-used. The low-fusing temperatures and recycling of heat allow the device to run cooler, not heating up your print room. In some countries, the available power in a power socket is fairly restricted. With HeatXchange technology, power consumption is within limits anywhere.
